Built around Espressif's ESP32-S3R8 SoC, it packs a 32-bit Xtensa dual-core LX7 processor running at up to 240 MHz alongside dedicated hardware vector instructions for accelerated neural network calculations.
Unlike the standard XIAO ESP32S3, the Sense variant includes a stackable expansion board equipped with an OV2640/OV3660 camera sensor module, a digital PDM microphone, and an onboard microSD card slot supporting up to 32GB (FAT format). This setup allows instant prototyping for face detection, image streaming, voice recording, and local AI inference without requiring additional external modules.
The board features 8MB of external PSRAM and 8MB of SPI Flash memory, ensuring ample memory headroom for camera frame buffers and complex machine learning models. Wireless connectivity includes 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n) and Bluetooth 5.0 (LE) / Bluetooth Mesh with a dedicated U.FL connector for an external antenna.
